About This Place

Located in the heart of Ridgeville, South Carolina, Dukes Bar-B-Q Ridgeville is a beloved barbecue and buffet restaurant that truly captures the spirit of Southern comfort and hospitality. Known for its authentic Southern BBQ flavors and a buffet that caters to a variety of cravings, Dukes Bar-B-Q offers guests a warm, family-friendly dining atmosphere that feels like a welcoming home away from home.

The star of the menu here has to be their fried chicken — golden, crisped to perfection on the outside, juicy and tender inside, a true testament to time-honored Southern cooking methods. Patrons often rave about it, calling it "excellent" and the highlight of their visit. Coupled with the buffet’s pulled pork drenched in rich, tangy BBQ sauce, the selection is a mouthwatering parade of smoky, savory goodness.

Dukes Bar-B-Q doesn’t stop at meat; their veggie plate buffet and rice sides offer a balanced and colorful touch. The rice, while noted by some as needing a little more care, complements the robust meats nicely when prepared just right. Sides like hush puppies and corn nuggets add a satisfying crunch, bringing a comforting nostalgia to each bite. Don’t overlook the cole slaw either — its tangy creaminess provides the perfect counterpoint to the smoky meats.

For dessert lovers, the blueberry pineapple dump cake is a standout — rich, fruity, and decadently sweet, it leaves a lingering sense of Southern charm on the palate. And if you’re lucky enough to try it, the “Nanner Puddin’” is an absolute must-try. As one local puts it, this traditional South Carolina banana pudding with Nilla wafers, whipped cream, and just the right touch of Southern sugar is an inseparable thread in the fabric of true BBQ hospitality. Without it, a BBQ feast just isn’t complete.

The overall vibe at Dukes Bar-B-Q Ridgeville is unpretentious and warm, with a staff that is both courteous and attentive — making every visit feel like catching up with family. The Southern sweet tea, known for its authentic flavor, adds that final, refreshing touch to your meal.

Even at off-peak hours, customers report the buffet staying fully stocked and food remaining fresh, a testament to the kitchen’s dedication to quality. Whether you’re stopping in after a day exploring Ridgeville or making a special trip just for the food, Dukes Bar-B-Q delivers hearty, soulful flavors that echo genuine South Carolina BBQ traditions. It’s no surprise this spot stays busy—it’s a true local gem that invites you to savor the best of BBQ culture in a comfortable, welcoming setting.

We have been coming here for a long time. The food is usually pretty good. The chicken is excellent. I would say the rice could use a little more love. It was kinda crunchy. Anyways it is a good place if you are in the area. It stays busy too.

Didn't get there until around 2pm so they weren't busy, but the food was still very fresh and the buffet fully stocked.
